@HCPSS BOE Members, I stand with HCYP in protecting our young people through fair and equitable access to HCPSS facilities. I stand with HCYP’s current process to allocate HCPSS facilities to non-profit organizations across Howard County!

Dear Parents and Players

As you know the leadership of HCYP Basketball has spent hundreds of hours over the last four years correcting the failed HCPSS allotment process.

A process is now in place that provides fair and equitable gym allotments to all community organizations through a collaborative effort with countywide youth groups.

Our efforts will soon be negated if the new proposed policy is approved.

We need your help!

Please contact the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS) Board of Education (BOE) members and our Superintendent, Dr.Michael Martirano, to let them know the proposed policy is based on unreliable information.  The 2018 Policy 10020 committee collaborated with user groups and proposed and voted on the necessary equitable changes to the Policy which are not reflected in the current draft proposal.

The new gym allotment schedule currently in place must be the cornerstone of any future discussions concerning Policy 10020.

Please email, write, or call, the board prior to the November 3rd, 2022 HCPSS BOE meeting and/or attend the meeting virtually to testify or show your solidarity.

We need your support! If HCPSS returns to the proposed permit process update to Policy 10020, we will not only lose gym usage, but it will also affect field use allocations.

In HCYP alone, we have at least 16,000 voices of children and parents. We must stand up together!

All HCPSS BOE Meetings are virtually open to the public. You can participate at this critical meeting on November 3, 2022 and/or submit testimony ahead of time here, https://www.hcpss.org/board/meeting-participation/

We have created an online submission portal for you, where we can make our voices further heard through Twitter and directly via e-mail. Please go to https://hcyp.org/call-to-action/ to let the HCPSS BOE know we stand together as one family for the betterment of all young people across Howard County.

An additional policy meeting of the Board is planned in December, with a final vote scheduled for March 9th, 2023.  Updates will follow.

Thank you in advance for your help!
